July 21st
Today we left around 8:30 am because we had over 200km again with the large hills near the mouth of the montreal river. I must mention the natural beauty of northern ontario. There are endless lakes, hills, streams, trees, rock cliffs and coast lines. Near batchawana bay, above sault ste marie, I thought I was back in Hawaii, with the long sandy beaches, surrounded be expansive crsytal clear water dotted with small green islands, framed with jagged large rocks. The vegetation around the bay included many large deciduous trees with large leafy ferns instead of the familiar pines, spruce and cedar trees. I saw two large herons with red beaks, as well as numerous geese, ducks and seagulls, and of course crows. It rained a little, the sky was mostly cloudy, the temperature cool to warm. We got into the Soo at 8:30 pm after 83 hills. Our wet shoes and clothes are leaving a pleasant fragrance in the rv tonight. Today was the first day where I felt exhausted, however, I was still able to bike well. I am not looking forward to another hilly rainy day. Please let the sun shine tomorrow!
